Growing up with a devout mother and dealing with the emotional turmoil of his parent's divorce, Trent's early years were marked with some confusion about which path he should or should not be on.

Trent's mission to Arcadia, California, was a turning point where his testimony of the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith deepened. However, it also sparked a growing disillusionment with the church's focus on metrics over genuine spiritual experiences. Despite these challenges, Trent remained active in the church, fulfilling his duties and adhering to the expectations placed upon him.

After his mission, Trent married, and he and his wife continued to raise their family within the church. Yet, as they grew together, they began to notice significant differences between the church of their childhood and its current state. This realization prompted Trent and his wife to delve deeply into LDS scriptures, particularly around the controversial topic of polygamy.
